Reminiscing on goals & Winter break

Today we're reminiscing on goals and winter break. Normally, around this time I'd be saying wow it feels like time goes by way too fast. I know that I can be transparent with you; so you know I am a little sad that my husband has gone back to work, but I'm not sad the kids are back in school! Since, they're gone I have free time to chat it up with you.

If you actually were visiting I'd offer you a nice ice cold glass of sweet tea, since this is not the case we'll just do a rain check & get to it! We are in the beginning stages of 2018 when everyone is getting the opportunity to start again & chase their dreams! Each year my family and I get together on NYE and discuss the goals we listed for the current year (if we achieved or surpassed them) & coming year's goals. I usually have my planner handy for this part. We normally split them into 6 categories ( for the kids) & 7 for us ( hubby & I). They have to fall under the acronym SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Time-sensitive). We each choose a minimum of 3 per category & the categories are as follows: Family goals, Spiritual goals, Physical goals, Career goals, Financial goals, Personal & Relationship. If for some reason we didn't achieve a goal we'd push it to the new year or assess if it should be changed to something more achievable.

Last year I got a lot achieved that I set out to & a few welcomed happy surprises! I got three features with some amazing companies that I love, some pretty amazing DIY projects under my belt, launched my Youtube Channel & grew in confidence as an interior designer. I can honestly say that none of this would have happened if I wasn't blessed with this gift from God; or didn't have a belief in positive affirmations, & resetting your subconscious mind. Of course I didn't forget all of you! You are so amazing showing up week after week & I really enjoy interacting with you.

If you are popping over from Instagram, Youtube, Facebook or are a weekly subscriber thank you so much!! It means so much to me that you enjoy our time together & that you're loving what you see. You and I have come so far in this last year. If you've forgotten some of the projects we completed together, click here. Whew, that was a lot and I can't wait to show you what I have planned for this year.

Now, let's talk about Winter break.... As you know Christmas is my favorite holiday & if you've been following me on social media you've seen my decor. Here are some of my most popular Instagram posts.

Cobalt blue accented Christmas tree

I love this tree in our formal living room! It was one of our three with the deep blue added as an accent color.

Easy Christmas Mantle

This was my favorite Christmas mantle yet! It had all elements that reminded me of my home in the country. I think the pine, galvanized letters & pinecones were my favorite against the fur stockings.

Easy Christmas Mantle

I enjoyed spending every minute with my babies & husband. You caught a few glimpses of that with our Instagram Live bean boozled game & our many movie nights. What none of us saw coming was the bomb cyclone that brought 10 inches of snow & extended our break over one week! In the beginning it seemed great to have an extra day & snow, but when that turned into curfews because of black ice & below freezing temps, I was done! We did manage to survive on the food I purchased just prior to this event & didn't loose power like so many near us, so I was relieved. I did enjoy relaxing and not having a huge list of tasks that were in need of completion like yesterday. I also learned that sometimes it's important to just take a breather and Winter break was just that and more for our family.

Our house in Winter

I was so excited to see snow again! It's been a long eight years. This was before we got another 6-8 inches of snow.

First snow in Winter 2018

Isn't this so beautiful. I love this scene so much. I think everything looks beautiful with snow.

I'm so glad we got to chat! Reminiscing on goals and winter break was fun. If you have any questions, comments, tips, tricks or want to talk about anything we discussed leave me a comment below.
